We start our route from the city of Mytilene. We follow the main road network that connects the city of Mytilene with Kalloni. After passing the bay of Gera, we meet a crossroads. We take the road to Agiasos.
Going off the road for a while, we will visit the mountainous Asomatos. We will walk through the cobbled streets of the village and taste its amazing delicacies. Just below the village of Asomatos is the area of Aghios Anargyroi.
The running waters and the tranquility of the place will enchant you. The area is also home to the unique café of Ag. Anargyroi. Returning to the main road, we will meet Kariini with its huge plane trees and water springs, where you can buy traditional products and visit the plane tree of Theophilos. A century-old plane tree, where it is said that the popular painter Theophilos lived and painted.
Continuing to the west, through an uphill route on the slopes of the mountain “Olympos” we reach the small town of Agiasos, one of the most picturesque towns of the island. Agiasos is famous for its wood carvings and ceramics. In the square of the village you will find the Holy Church of Panagia Vrefokratousa or the Panagia of Agiasos.
Always on the main road on the way to Polihnito, we come across the village of Lisvori with its famous bread and one of the hottest hot springs in Europe.
Continuing from Lysvori, the main road leads us to Vasilika, while between Vasilika and Polihnitos there is the Monastery of Damandrios.
Arriving in Polihnitos, we will visit its hot springs and continue towards Skala Polihnitos, an important holiday resort of the region. At a distance of 4 km northwest we arrive at Skala Polihnitou with its picturesque harbour and many fish taverns. The same road to the west leads to the coastal area of Nifida.
Near Polihnitos is Vrissa, a small village with a natural history museum and the beach of Vateres, one of the most beautiful beaches on the island.
