Starting from Mytilene we will explore the southern “leg” between the two bays of the island, Gera and Kalloni. We follow the main road to Kalloni and at the junction we head towards Plomari. We can make a stop at Dipi for a tour of the wetland of the river Evergetoula.
We go along the coast to Perama, where the road heads inland, leaving the sea behind.
At the mountain village of Skopelos we take the road to Milies. Milies is a beautiful mountain village with now few inhabitants and picturesque stone-built houses that are worth visiting. After Milies, you will come across the “Toumba Farm”. There you can make a stop to enjoy a coffee with the plain of Plomari at your feet. Continuing along the road you will be led to the picturesque Plomari.
The road shortly after Skopelos and up to Plomari is a dirt road. If you want you can skip the last stop and follow the main road, which will lead you directly to Plomari.
In Plomari it is worth visiting its cultural centre, housed in a renovated soap factory, and of course the Ouzo Museum of the “Varvagianni” distillery at the entrance of the settlement.
In the area there are beaches of unparalleled beauty with clear crystal clear waters, such as Melinda, Agios Isidoros and Drotas.
After Melinda, following the road to Megalochori, turn left and visit Panagia Kryfti. Enjoy the unique beauty of the landscape and your swim and return to Plomari to taste its fresh fish and of course the famous Plomari ouzo.
