Mytilini – Mantamados – Sykamia – Molyvos

We start our route from the eastern side of the city, the Epano Skala. We follow the coastal network and, after passing the Baths of Thermi, the main road will lead us successively to Mystegna and Skala Mystegna, Nea Kydonia and Skala Nea Kydonia.

Make a stop to enjoy a cold drink in these picturesque little villages or an ouzo with seafood at the seaside taverns. Shortly after Nea Kydonies you will meet Pedi. A small beautiful beach with crystal clear waters.

The road continues parallel to the beach while a small road to the east leads successively first to the beach of Aspropotamos and then to the preserved settlement of Tsoukalades, Agios Stefanos, while just opposite are the small fishing islands of Tokmakia.

Then and at a distance of 6.5 km. we approach our next destination, the small town of Mantamados with strong elements of tradition and religious feeling. Just outside of Mantamados, the monastery of Archangel Michael is built, while at a distance of about 7 km to the west there is the beach of Tsakmakia.

From Mantamados the road continues north to the mountain village of Kapi, where a minor small road leads to the picturesque beach “Port” and to the west to the picturesque mountain villages of Pelopi and Ypsilometopo. Continuing on the main road, we drive to the village of Kleio. The road from Clio leads us to the picturesque beach “Tsonia” while moving northwestwards we reach the picturesque village “Sikamia”.

At a distance of 2.5 km. is the picturesque Skala Sikamia with the church of Panagia “Gorgona” built on a rock. It is worth a visit and enjoy the fresh fish in the taverns of the area and a unique sunset from the chapel overlooking the sea and the picturesque harbor of the village.

Continuing on the main road we reach the beautiful Molyvos. Leave the car at the entrance of the village and wander through its cobbled streets.

Three kilometres east of Molyvos is Eftalou with its beautiful lace beach and thermal baths.

West of Molyvos, we meet Petra. Visit the famous Panagia Petra, perched on the imposing rock in the centre of the village. From there you can enjoy a unique sunset with the sun disappearing into the blue waters of the Aegean Sea.
